Solicator® pro
Fitzpatrick Skin Type Testing
The Solicator® pro and its software is a valuable support not only for selecting the appropriate sun screen products but also helps to give a suitable sun bed exposure recommendation.
-
Device
Our melanin probe which is the core of the Solicator® pro is based on the Mexameter® technology.
This technology is world-wide used in cosmetic industry and dermatological research as a standard tool to measure the melanin content of the skin (pigmentation) as index figures. Several hundreds of published studies on skin pigmentation with our instrument are available.
The Solicator® pro determines the complete melanin content of the skin (eu- and pheomelanin). The lower the melanin level of the skin (light skin), the more sensitive it is to UV radiation. Respectively, the time a person can be exposed to UV radiation or the intensity of the UV-radiation (also called MED – minimal erythema dose) needs to be decreased to prevent this person from burning. Dark skin comes with a natural protection and has lower sensitivity to UV exposure.
